Jacob Matthews Obituary

Jacob Allen Matthews passed away in his sleep early January 1st, 2022 at his home in Boulder, Colorado. He was 23 years old. During his short life, he touched the lives of many with humor, intelligence, and kindness. He was extremely inquisitive from birth exploring the world as soon as he could walk. Jacob loved to learn and develop his own opinion. His formal and informal studies included astronomy, religion, politics, history, music, and humanity. He talked with professors, other students, customers, bus travelers, and homeless people. His friends were blessed by random information, diverse music, and wise advice. Often, they would receive a well-chosen article or song by text. Jacob loved his cats, family, friends, and most importantly his daughter. He had many plans for his daughter and couldn't wait to see her grow up. Jacob will be survived by, his wife, Sheila McCabe; his daughter, Vaela; his parents Jeffrey Matthews and DeeLyn Matthews; sister Jordan Hammack (Dakota), Jillian Matthews; his grandmother, Penelope Makinster; grandfather, Wayne Davis; and many aunts, uncles, and other family members/friends. Jacob was preceded in death by his grandparents James Matthews and Jackie Williams. Jacob's memorial will be held at Overland Trail Museum at 11:00 am on January 29, 2022. Cards, letters, and financial support can be sent to P.O. Box 1586 in Sterling, CO. The funds collected will be used to pay for cremation and remaining amounts will be given to his wife.
