Janet Best was my first keyboard instructor in the early 1960s, and her husband Archie was the band director at my junior/senior high school. I went on earn a BM from Drake University and a MSM from SMU in Dallas. My career as a church musician centered in the Washington, DC area, and I retired to Rochester, NY in 2019. Unfortunately, I did not keep up with either Janet or Archie to tell them of their profound influence on my life and work. They were both fine people!

So sorry to receive this news. Jan and I played in the band together when we were undergraduates at Drake University. Later, we became reacquainted when we both ended up in Colorado. Condolences to her husband whom I knew also from our Drake band days. - Harriet Simons
