Jean Marchant Obituary

Lila Jean Marchant quietly passed away at the age of 89 from Alzheimer's on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. She was born in Beatrice, Nebraska on June 15, 1933, the second of three children to Edward and Eva Skanes. She met her loving husband John of 59 years, on his uncle's farm in Iowa. They were married February 19, 1950. Jeanie, as she liked being called, enjoyed being a wife and homemaker. She had a deep affection for animals that lasted throughout her life. She had a sense of humor and a curiosity for learning. She was an excellent cook and baker. She even enjoyed working for an electronics factory, for a short time. They raised three children, a son John, a daughter LuWana, and a daughter Sharon. They retired from IBM in Boulder, CO, and lived there for 56 years. She is survived by her brother William Skanes and his wife Betty Skanes of Beatrice, NE. She is also survived by her son John Marchant Jr., her daughter Sharon, and son-in-law George of Umpqua, OR., along with 7 grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family.
