Lawrence Maurer Obituary

Larry lost his battle with cancer, but he fought a brave and courageous battle. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Dr. Lawrence E. Maurer and Helen. They made their way to Boulder when Larry was six months old. He married his wife Linda, in 1969 and together, they enjoyed everyone and everything, and laughed and cried together for 51 1/2 years. Larry sold golf cars until he retired last fall at the age of 79. Golf was his first love and he started winning tournaments at the age of 14, and in 1975, he won the Colorado State Amateur and the Boulder Country Club Championship. A few years after that, boating became his first love at Lake McConaughey in Nebraska with his wife and daughter, Molly Marie. As a family, over spring break, Maui was their destination for many years. So many blessed memories and treasured times to be remembered. He spent many years fishing at Los Lagos Ranch. Living in Nederland for the past eighteen years, he and Linda made many new friends, who in the final days, helped care for him and gave loving support to Linda. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his sisters, Mary Lynne Cameron (Mike), Annie Dietz (Bob) and brother, Chris Maurer (Carol). Also surviving him are nieces and nephews who he truly loved. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen Maurer and daughter, Molly Marie Maurer. A private family burial will be held at Green Mountain Cemetery and a Celebration of Life will follow as soon as arrangements are completed. Donations may be made to TRU Community Care, 2594 Trailridge Drive, East, Lafayette, CO 80026, and Quality Personal care Services at www.Qhomefamilycare.com. First met Larry in 1977....when he was the main man at Boyd Distributing. Our golf course always had Jacobson equipment and E-Z Go golf cars, mostly because of Larry and his commitment to his product and his willingness to help insure your operation was successful. He was a master of his trade and a great champion for golf in Colorado. He will be missed. Prayers and blessing to his family. Cheers Larry!

Larry was a big part of Colorado Golf in many ways. The golf car replacement plan he helped me develop at Riverdale was a big part of our success. I’ll remember our trip to Augusta together, lots of laughs and a long friendship forever.

Larry Maurer was a long-time friend and a friend of golf in Colorado. He was a fine player himself and a great guy that gave a lot back to the game of golf. He will be sorely missed. Prayers for Linda, the Maurer family and friends he left behind. May you rest in peace, my friend Larry Maurer.

Larry was a friend to so many golf professionals for years in Colorado. He was a dear friend to me for the past 20 years. I always looked forward to see him when he called on me at Cherry Hills. It was honor to call him my friend.

I’ve known Larry since the early 90’s when we both worked at EZGO. We had many laughs and Larry was the consummate salesman. He built long lasting sincere relationships with customers and co-workers. He, Linda, me and my wife always enjoyed a good bottle of champagne and reminiscing about family, golf and fishing. I will miss my dear friend and so thankful Linda prompted him for us all ( Tom “Hoot” Kohout & Tom Mundy) to get together a couple of years ago in Saratoga Wyoming to fish and golf. Rest In Peace my friend.
