Born December 16, 1939, to J.B. and Bessie Hunter Cooper, Evelyn stepped into her eternal home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. A 1958 graduate of Chester County High School, Evelyn was known for her steadfast faith and generous heart. At Oakland Baptist Church, she poured her energy into Evangelism Explosion, Vacation Bible School, and Awana, always reaching out with kindness and a deep desire to serve others. Evelyn spent 13 years working at ITT, but her true calling was found in the simple joys of life – preparing home-cooked meals for her family and delighting in the laughter of her grandchildren. In her later years, she served as a volunteer pink lady at Magnolia Regional Health Center, offering kindness and a listening ear to those in need. One of Evelyn's favorite pastimes was taking road trips with her husband Sammy, often opting for the scenic route. Whether winding through hills or pausing to admire a sunset, those drives were filled with love, and shared appreciation for the world around them. Evelyn's heart was forever changed by the loss of her son Keith, yet she allowed that pain to deepen her purpose. With empowering strength and deep empathy, she reached out to countless families walking the same heartbreaking path, offering comfort and understanding. Her kindness became a lifeline for many.
Those left to honor Evelyn's memory include her son, Kenny Miles (Donna); daughter Rhonda Arthur (Eric); grandchildren, Jordan Miles, Katie Cooper (James), Meagan Erwin (Trent), Ashley Gross (Cody), Landon Miles, Marlie Miles, and Myah Arthur; great grandchildren, Meredith Erwin, Micah Erwin, Owen Gross, Nora Gross, Creeden Cooper, and Riley Gross, sister, Sandra Davis (Jack); special friend, Peggy Gaillard; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Sammy Miles; son, Keith Miles; parents, J.B. and Bessie Hunter Cooper; brother, Bob Cooper, and David Cooper; and her sisters, Dorothy Skelly and JoAn McKinnon.
