Walter Thomas McCabe Jr., aerospace engineer, beloved father, and extreme adventurer passed away on April 20, 2024 in Escalante, Utah from a bicycle accident.
He was born on Feb 25, 1961 to Walter McCabe and Candy DuBarton in Port Huron, Mich. He spent his years growing up on his grandparents' farm. He obtained his Bachelor's of Science at Texas A&M in 1983.
Tom was well known and loved by many for his outgoing personality, crazy style, and zest for life! His smile and energy were contagious. His passion was living each day to the fullest and going on adventures, these included skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, kayaking, running, biking, sailing and many more. He loved to cook and create either at home or on his adventures!
He is survived by his 2 daughters Allison Otts (Brent) and Danielle Bearden (Matthew), granddaughters Lennox Otts, Rozlyn Otts, and Ava Bearden, his ex-wife Kristie McCabe, his brother Edward McCabe, sister Colleen Cargo and their children, and countless members of his "tribe" across the globe.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother.
A memorial in his honor was held at his home in Utah for close friends and family.

I worked with Tom, both at Bacchus West in Magna in the 1980's and then again at ACCE in Clearfield in the 2010's. Tom was a very smart and dedicated worker. He had real empathy for our touch labor staff and genuinely worked hard to make their jobs easier and more efficient. But the most striking thing about Tom was his contagious enthusiasm for life. He really seemed to live life to the fullest. He was one of a kind. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts go out to his family

Kris, Alli, Dani, and families - I was privileged to have known Thomas over the years. We worked together, went camping and boating, and I was able to watch his girls grow up into beautiful women and mothers! May all your memories fill your hearts with love!
