Thelma M. Hixson, 86, of Connellsville (Bullskin Township) died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, in the Donnell House, Washington, Pa. She was born April 29, 1935, in East Huntingdon Township, a daughter of the late Earl and Daisy Echard Brown. Thelma was a member of the Paradise United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Ronald Hixson and his wife Paula "P.J." and Carol Hixson and her companion Bob Vilella, both of Connellsville; son-in-law, Paul Cooper of Connellsville; her grandchildren, Jennifer Larson and her husband David, Jeremy Cooper and his wife Jessica, Douglas Hixson and his wife Amanda, Matthew Hixson and Cory Hixson and his wife Katie; her eight great-grandsons, Noah, Preston, Thatcher, Callum, Harris and Lochlan Hixson and Landon and Caleb Cooper. Thelma was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lindy Clayton "Buck" Hixson; a daughter, Linda Sue Cooper; her sisters, Lucy Kemp, Mildred Nicklow, Betty Hixson, Libby Brown, Ruth Dittmore and Florence Spilcer; her brothers, Ralph, Edward, Lawrence, Kenneth and Henry Brown and step-brothers, Jim, Harry and Frank Brown. Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of funeral services with Rev. Douglas Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlick Cemetery. The family requests that those attending the viewing and funeral wear a mask and practice social distancing. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Home Health and the Donnell House of Washington, Pa. for their excellent care and concern for Thelma during her illness.
