Walter "Ed" Stout, 84, of Connellsville, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born Aug. 29, 1937, son of the late Mary Jane Stout Ruff.
Ed was retired from the West Penn Power Company. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Ed was known for his garden and frequently delivering fresh vegetables to many people. He was often doing home improvement projects, helping others with many of theirs.
Ed was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church in South Connellsville.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Shelley Riser (Debra) of Harrisburg; daughter, Karen Stout of Maryland; and grandson, Justin Stout, Maryland; two brothers, Sanford Ruff and James Ruff of Connellsville; six sisters, Ellen Basinger, Emma (Larry) Brothers, Audrey Jean Friguglietti, Bonnie (Harry) Heisterman, Vida (Larry) Nicholson, all of Connellsville, and Dorothy (Ronald) Geehring of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Linda (Myers) Riser Stout in 2005; son, Mark Stout in 2011; brother, Joseph "Rich" Ruff, and a sister, Ruth Basinger. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steven Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
