Wayne W. Mowry, 86, of Acme, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant.
He was born July 15, 1930, in White, a son of the late Emory and Olive White Mowry.
Prior to his retirement, Wayne worked as a lineman for the Laurel Highlands Telephone Company for 28 years. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Community Church.
Wayne will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving wife of 65 years, Esther K. Brown Mowry; his children, Sharon Dhanenes and husband Lee of Linesville and Roger Mowry and wife Cheryl of Acme; his grandchildren, Billie Jo Minick of Linesville, Christina Kalp and husband Jeff of Donegal, Stefanie Yothers and husband Chad of Indian Head, Wayne Mowry and wife Jennifer of Acme, and Bryan McGrath and wife Megan of Linesville; his great-grandchildren, Brooke, Alyssa, and Juliann Kalp, Ryan Smith, Kara May, Joshua and Ava Mowry, Kylie Yothers, and Chase and Hunter McGrath; his sister, Doretta Brown and husband Fred; and his brother, Clair Mowry and wife Karen, all of Acme.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Nicholson; and his brothers, Harold, Carl, Arlin, and Don Mowry.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the CCU nurses at Frick Hospital for all of their wonderful care given to Wayne during his stay there.
Family and friends will be received from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., located at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft, 724-455-2310, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Leroy C. Kesler officiating.
A committal service and interment will follow in the Eutsey Cemetery, White.

Our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Mowry and all the family. Wayne was a wonderful gentleman. Wayne and I went to Stromburg- Carlson school in Rochester, NY in the 60's Raymond Poorbaugh and wife.
