Richard "Rick" Paul Fratus, 70, of Woodland died on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at the Sacramento V. A. Medical Center in Rancho Cordova. Rick had been a Yolo County resident for the past 65 years. He was born on Oct. 11, 1938, in Oakland to Paul and Eva (August) Fratus. He attended Woodland schools and later served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965, remaining a reserve through 1968. Rick was employed as a truck driver for 45 years, and had driven for Western Pine, California Cascade, and Panella Trucking.
Rick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Heidi Fratus of Woodland; daughter, Connie Holland and husband David of Woodland; sons, Joseph Fratus and wife Rebecca of Willows, and Rick Fratus and wife Mary of Fort Bragg; brother, David Fratus and wife Suzanne of Lakeport; and six grandchildren, Brad, Matt and Courtney Holland, Joseph Fratus, Phylicia Fratus and Bethany Elliott. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eva Fratus.
A celebration of life has been scheduled for 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 23, at the 100F Hall, No. 111, 1240 Commerce St., Suite D, in Woodland. A private burial will take place at the Sacramento Valley National Veterans Cemetery in Dixon. Contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association in his memory. Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Rick. I work with him for several years and considered him a friend.

So very sorry to learn of Rick's passing.
I Really enjoyed knowing Rick and running with him on the BIG Road. Great person with a lot of entertaining stories.
He will be sorely missed.
