Alan T. Shaw KERHONKSON- Alan T. Shaw, a lifetime resident of Kerhonkson, N.Y., passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 4, 2017 at Highland Rehab and Nursing Home in Middletown, N.Y. Alan was born on April 24, 1946 in Ellenville, N.Y. He was the son of Virginia L. Gray Shaw and adopted by John Glennie Shaw. Alan retired from his Alma Mater, Rondout Valley High School, where he was a wrestler and returned to teach Biology and Earth Science. He was also an active Union Member. Survivors include his wife, Patricia L’Amoreaux Shaw; his beloved sons, Jason (Alberta) and Jesse (Tana); and his precious granddaughters, Sierra, Isabella and Hanna, all of Kerhonkson. Alan volunteered with the Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad as both a driver and an EMT. He was member of the Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club and Alan was a volunteer literacy teacher at the Ellenville Library for many years. Alan was generous in every way, a voracious reader and loved food, music, his many pets and wearing colorful suspenders. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held privately and at the family’s discretion. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 67, Kerhonkson, N.Y., 12446. My deepest condolences to Pat,Jason and jesse and families in the loss of Alan. I am so fortunate to have many great high school memories with Alan as we sat next to each other in home room the 4 years and worked on the play also.He was such a smart , caring and generous person . He will be so missed and I loved having a wonderful conversation at our 50th reunion. Thank you Alan for being you and giving your classmates some of the best memories of our youth!

Mr Shaw was my favorite teacher in high school. I have thought of him often in my adulthood! He was a kind soul and I am sorry to hear that he has passed. God bless Mr Shaw

I am saddened to hear of Alan's passing. While I had not seen him for many years, I have many fond memories of him from our days in college as a fellow biology major.
My sincere condolences to his family and to all his friends and former students.

I remember Alan very well. He was involved with Claude Christiana making well tile in the 60s. And Alan was also a member of my fathers Boy Scout Explorer troop, I accompanied them on many camping trips although I am a few years younger. Football was his sport in high school and we did converse many different times....Fine person and one I will always remember......My condolences to the family
