Benita Migliorelli Obituary

Benita Migliorelli, 88, of Red Hook, NY, passed away on Saturday, January 8th, 2022 at her home. Born on February 23rd, 1933, in The Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Louise (Villanova) Mancuso. Benita married Rocco Migliorelli on November 21, 1953, at Holy Rosary Church in The Bronx, NY. Rocco predeceased her on March 27, 2018.In addition to raising her family, Benita worked for 30 years in Medical Records at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck and before that at Einstein Hospital in The Bronx. As a young woman, she worked at her uncle's investment firm on Wall Street and after getting married and starting her family, she waitressed, helping out her friends who owned Gino's Italian Restaurant in The Bronx. From The Bronx to Manhattan, to Tivoli, she has had quite a life!Benita lived her life with integrity. Her motto in school was "Do unto others as you would have them dounto you" and she lived every moment of her life that way. Always thinking of others before herself, she became the rock and Matriarch of her large Italian family and she touched the lives of the people she met and the friends she had with her honesty, loyalty, and love she shared with all. We ran to her in times of need and looked to her for strength, we ran to her in times of sorrow and looked to her for guidance, and we ran to her to share joy always wanting to celebrate with her. Her strong arms held us and kept us safeand happy. She was always there, taking care of her parents, her sisters & brother, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her friends, and, of course, her loving Husband, Rocky.Benita worked in the fields alongside Rocky, as together they fulfilled their dream that was to become Migliorelli Farm. She was not afraid of hard work. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed sharing her creations with family and friends. She put her heart into all she did and spread that love around with open arms, a wooden spoon, and a place at her table! Her home was always warm and inviting and open to all who stopped by for a cup of coffee (Dunkin Donuts, of course), biscotti, and a chat. She was a passionate reader and could always be found with a newspaper or the latest bestseller. She loved to shop (Marshall's was her favorite haunt) but not only for herself....she always had others in mind as she strolled through the store. A jacket for a grandchild, a blanket for a daughter, or chocolate- covered almonds for her son.She was a warm, intelligent, strong woman and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Benita is survived by her loving children, Maryanne (Louis) Rosolen of Pleasant Valley, NY, Catherine (Robert) MacKay of Port St. Lucie, FL, Joyce (Sal) Quattrociocchi of Pleasant Valley, NY, and Kenneth (Jen Howland) Migliorelli of Tivoli, NY; her loving grandchildren, Carly Rose (Dan) Stafford, Rachel (TJ) Hourihan, Chelsea (Christian Johnson) Migliorelli, Sam Migliorelli, Shawn (fiancé Chelsea McCarns) Horning, Maria Quattrociocchi, and Catherine Quattrociocchi; her great-grandchildren, Saige Marie & Roman Hourihan, Maverick, Scarlett, & Maeve Horning, and Edelyn & Greta Stafford; her siblings, Felicia Gamby, and Robert Mancuso; along with extended family and friends. Her sister, Catherine Franciosa predeceased her.Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes in Red Hook, NY on Thursday, January 13th, 2022 from 2 - 6 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 6 pm. Interment will be private in the family plot at Red Church Cemetery in Tivoli, NY. I don't think I would have ever been ready to lose you. You are no longer fighting, you are at peace, my Grandma Benita!Rachel: At a loss for words but knowing you are no longer suffering and are now with Grandpa Rocky again makes losing you sting a little less. I will miss you terribly, and I'm so grateful for the many years we shared together and the memories we have to fill the hole left in our hearts. You are such a special part of my life and your legacy will live on through your family.Chelsea: I simply would not be the person I am without you and don't think I'll ever be the same now that you're gone. Gonna miss your sass, and I'll never forget your lessons. You were never the sweet and dainty type...but who needs that shit when you're a true bad ass!!Sam: A quote my Grandma always said to me: "If everyone put their problems on the table, you'd take yours back"Maria: Blue-eyed, bee hive, raspy voice, bringing stories to life from other times - Grand-Ma love.Catherine: Gramma, you were a true example of living life fully. I'm so glad to have had you to call when I needed a recipe late at night and to have had you to tell me the tales of your life before I was around. Love you always.Shawn: Grandma, I wasn’t born into your family but you never made me feel any different from your other grandchildren. I love you and appreciate everything you did for me more than I can put into words. I’m so thankful to have had you in my life and the impact you had on me. I will think about you everyday for the rest of my days. Say hi to Grandpa Rocky for me. Love you always https://www.lastingmemories.com/benita-migliorelli
