Carol Hoffstatter HURLEY-Carol Hoffstatter 82, of Hurley died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015 at Woodland Ponds in New Paltz. Born Sept. 22, 1933 in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Helen (Jones) Schoonmaker. Carol married Lloyd H. Hoffstatter in 1950, and together they raised their ten children. Carol delighted in her 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader and gardener, liked to embroider, and enjoyed feeding and watching birds year round. After raising her children, she worked as the secretary at her parish, Saint Joseph’s Church, for 21 years. Surviving are her sons, Lloyd S. and his wife Kate of Olivebridge, Dirk J. of Connelly, Mark A. and his wife Annie of Saugerties, Glenn D. and his wife Lynne of Hurley; daughters Leslie M. Przekop of Kingston, Theresa L. Voigtlaender and her husband Russell of Kingston, Diane E. Brown of Hurley, Sue E. Kehoe and her husband Keith of Saugerties, Bethany A. Woodard and her husband Mark of Saugerties; her brother, Alan Schoonmaker of Murrieta, California; her brother-in-law, Charles Hoffstatter of Texas as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, who died in Feb. of this year, by her daughter Victoria Trice, and by her sister Judith Whiddon. The Hoffstatter family would like to thank the staff of Woodland Ponds for their wonderful care and compassion for both Carol and Lloyd. Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Avenue, Kingston. The Hoffstatter family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral procession will form Wednesday 9 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Church. Cremation to be held at the Wiltwyck Crematory. Inurnment in Hurley Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Drive, Suite 200, New Windsor, N.Y. 12533 or John A. Coleman High School, 430 Hurley Avenue, Hurley, N.Y. 12443.

Carol, I'am so beyond blessed to have the pleasure to meet your husband and yourself. You two have been so loving and welcoming. I am thankful i had the pleasure to take care and love the two of you as you graciously accepted me as if i was part of your family. I will forever cherish you and the kind of people you were. I'll never forget. Fly High Beautiful!!!
