Charles W. Ferrara

SAUGERTIES.....Charles W. Ferrara, 85, of Manorville Road, Saugerties died November 20, 2022 in Kingston, N.Y. Born December 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Helen Ferrara and one of 9 children. He was a well respected, lifetime resident of Saugerties, N.Y. Following his service for the United States Army and a short career in carpentry, he went on to work for 30 years at Northeast Solite. Charles was known for his love and deep rooted knowledge of the Catskill Mountains. He loved to spend his time hiking, hunting, fishing and trapping. He loved his family and took great pride in his six nieces, as well as Johnny Mullen of Saugerties, NY and Cindy Cashdollar of Woodstock, NY, who he loved as family. His blue eyes lit up with pride when he spoke of their achievements. Music was his gift to all. He loved to give all of the children instruments and teach them to play, especially the dobros and fiddles. Surviving are his brothers Fred and his wife Eileen of Saugerties, NY, Alphonse and his wife Joan of Saugerties, NY and Anthony and his wife Judy of Mesa, AZ. He was the loving uncle of: Melanie Plant of Lithia Springs, GA, Amy Gudmundsen of Hurley, NY, Rebeccah Heinlein of Hurley, NY, Bethany Habernig of Saugerties, NY, Victoria Lang of Saugerties, NY, Mariah Plant of Saugerties, NY, as well as Debbie Ferrara, Michael Ferrara, Hollie Ferrara, Billy Ferrara, Tom Ferrara and many great nieces and nephews. Charles was pre deceased by his sister MaryEllen Ferrara-Plant and brothers Peter, Albert, William, Thomas. His funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Interment will follow in the Blue Mountain Cemetery with full military honors. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Charles W Ferrara to the Andrew Mullen Scholarship Fund at 53 Burnett Road Saugerties, NY 12477, payable to SHS Scholarship Andrew Mullen.
