Christopher N. Grover RED HOOK- Christopher N. Grover, 30, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017. Born on March 26, 1987, in Rhinebeck, N.Y., he is the son of Peter and Gail (Shanley) Grover of Tivoli. He was a graduate of Red Hook High School- Class of 2006. Chris was the Head Coach at Mr. Todd’s Gymnastics located in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for many years, and previously worked at Fly High Gymnastics in Red Hook. In addition to his loving parents- Peter and Gail Grover, Chris is survived by his children, Benjamin and Faye Grover; his brother, Kevin Grover of Red Hook, N.Y.; his maternal grandparents, Norman and Shirley Shanley of Tivoli, N.Y.; his paternal grandmother, Joan Grover of Red Hook, N.Y.; his “favorite aunt”, Tracy Shanley of Tivoli, N.Y.; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, colleagues, and friends. Chris was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Brendan “Benny” Grover. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made in Christopher’s memory for a trust to be set up for Benjamin and Faye Grover, c/o: Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, N.Y., 12571. From our family to yours our sincere condolences during this very tragic time in your lives. We still cannot believe he is actually gone. He was such a joy to be around, always had a smile and a hello for everyone. He was such an inspiration to all his athletes who will never forget what he taught them. Our hearts will be hurting for such a long time knowing he is no longer with us. We will be praying for your family for the strength to get through these trying times. Have not in knowing his memory will live on in all the athletes he has coached over all these years. Whenever we see Spider-Man, smell a spicy cologne, tell someone they are being a bar hog, or hey someone say hey kid we will think of him.

Chris was a source of inspiration to generations of athletes and their families. With patience, integrity and good humor, he taught them to
persevere, face adversity with courage and balance education with recreation. He was part of the MTG family that helped create a " home away from home" that our daughter looked forward to returning to on breaks from college. She felt privileged to have a job in the gym to learn his perspective as a coach and see how he " cared for each and every person. " It's a tragic loss, our condolences to his family.
