Gary R. Humphrey

Gary R Humphrey, 73, a lifelong Red Hook resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 4 th, 2022 at his home. Born on July 29 th , 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Marion (Schroeder) Humphrey & John Humphrey, MD. He was a graduate of Red Hook Central Schools and earned his Associates degree from Dutchess Community College.A proud Marine, Gary served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. As a lifelong Marine, the Marine Corp became a large part of Gary’s life. He served in the 1 st Marine Division – “A” Company, 1 st Battalion, 7 th Marine and he remained active with his fellow Corpsman, and attended their yearly reunions. He also was a life member of Red Hook Post #7765 VFW in Red Hook, NY.For over 30 years and until his retirement, Gary worked as a sales representative with Empire Liquor formerly based in Kingston, NY.In addition to the Marine Corp and country, Gary’s greatest love was his family. He is survived by his loving children- Sara (Rich) Hack of Rhinebeck, NY, Maureen Humphrey of Los Angeles, CA, Anna Hartman of Rhinebeck, NY, and Peter (Karen) Humphrey of Saugerties, NY; his siblings, Lorraine Humphrey of Red Hook, NY, Dr. John Humphrey of Georgia, and Valarie (Tim) Woisin of New Hampshire; his adoring grandchildren, Dylan, Aidan, Alexa, Riona, Ava, & Giana; his brother in law, Tony Prados of Nevada’ along with numerous extended family, fellow Marines, colleagues, and friends.In addition to his parents, his sister, Dr. Susan Prados, predeceased him.Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Sunday, January 9th , 2022 from 2 - 6 PM. Members of the Red Hook Post #7765 VFW will be conducting services at 5:30pm.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 10 th , 2022 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Red Hook, NY. Pastor James Miller will officiate.
