Joseph F. Schrowang III, 81, of Andrew Street Kingston, died Wednesday October 20, 2021. Born August 29, 1940 in Kingston, New York. He was the son of the late Joseph F. and Janet (Dykes) Schrowang. Joseph was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1958 and SUNY Oswego, Class of 1963. He was in the United States Army Reserves. While attending Ulster County Community College at the age of 54, he was a member of the golf team. Joseph worked for IBM in Kingston and Poughkeepsie as a new products administrator. He was a lifelong member, Deacon and Elder of the Reformed Church of the Comforter. Joseph was married to Muffy, the love of his life, for 56 years. In 1986, they bought their dream vacation home in Naples, FL where they spent many years creating memories with family and friends. Joe especially enjoyed spending time on the golf course at Twaalfskill, Wiltwyck and Foxfire. Faith, Family and Friends were of utmost importance to him. He was very honored to gain another daughter and son in Karen and Patrick when they married into the family. He was a very proud Poppa and cherished watching his grandkids many activities such as marching band, softball, volleyball, baseball, gymnastics and swimming. He will be lovingly remembered with a bowl of chocolate ice cream. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn "Muffy" A. (Bowers) Schrowang. His son, Joseph K. Schrowang and his wife, Karen, daughter, Jill K. Ford and her husband, Patrick. Grandchildren; Victoria, Kaitlynn and Erika Schrowang, Collin, Carly and Madelyn Ford. His in laws Debbie and John Lukaszewski. Cousins; Robert and Andrew Dykes, Mark Rieker, and many other cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother in law, George Bowers and sister in law, Shirley Doty and her husband Fred. Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc. 27 Smith Avenue Kingston www.jvleahyfh.com Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A funeral home service will take place at 4:00 PM. My condolences to Marilyn, his children and grandchildren. Joe and I met in kindergarten, waIked down the hill to #5 school, it was a wonderful neighborhood to grow up in.
