She was born in Kingston on Sept. 1, 1947 to Richard O’dell Stokes, Sr., and Emily (nee Bevier) Stokes. Katherine attended the Clove Valley one room school and graduated from Rondout Valley High School. A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Kathy filled these last four years with the activities she enjoyed and felt important: fishing, baking, gardening, bird (and bear) watching, visiting with friends and family, traveling, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. She is survived by her husband, A.E. “Jerry” Davis; her daughter, Jennifer Cairo (Martin Vavra) of Oregon; stepsons, Christopher Davis (Julia) of Pennsylvania, Patrick Davis (Bourbon) of N.Y., Shawn Davis (Jessica) of South Carolina; brother, Richard O. Stokes, Jr., (Juliet) of New York; and sisters, Mary-Frances Jensen (Robert) of Wisconsin, and Jenifer Nerone (James) of New York. Also survived by several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and a son Robert Richard Cairo. Visitation for relatives and friends will be Saturday, June 24, 2017, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Her funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. following visitation. Rev. Caroline Berninger, pastor of the Rondout Valley Methodist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to the Kripplebush Fire Department, 519 Pine Bush Road, Stone Ridge, N.Y., 12484. (www.GJMoylanFuneralHome.com)

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to Kathy's family during this difficult time. Perhaps the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring you the same comfort it has brought me. Reflecting on such tender promises gives hope, and that hope can be so consoling at times like these.

So sorry for your loss. Please know that my prayers and thoughts are with you all. I knew Kathy back in 4-H days, and then had the pleasure of working close with her through my job in the Board of Elections. What a grand person she was. She will be missed by all. God Bless.

I still think of Kathy as that bubbly cheer leader in H.S. Our families have been good friends for many years, yet I never once envisioned this happening. My heart is breaking.

I loved working with Kathy as Clerks. Back in the day I repurposed her initials to mean "kissed" and now she will be truly missed. I was truly blessed to have known her. May she Rest In Peace. Marian Cappillino
