?In Memoriam????Lindsay SheaLindsay Shea passed away on February 18, 2020 at Health Alliance Hospital Broadway, following complications of long illness. She was 65 years old.She was born Lindsay Plant MacKay in Flushing, Queens, NYC, on March 19, 1954. Her parents were Joseph MacKay, a mechanic, and Joan Grimshaw MacKay, a homemaker.When the family moved to New Paltz in 1964, she attended and graduated from The Campus School of the State University College at New Paltz, and after a move to Kingston, graduated from Kingston High School in 1971.In 1973, she married Peter Edward Shea and the couple bought a home in Hurley.Both animal lovers, they enjoyed a succession of Labrador Retrievers as well as rescue dogs and cats.Lindsay decided on a career in nursing and, first earned certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1978, then graduated from Mount Saint Mary College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1982. She also attended Russell Sage University, and had completed the course work for a Master of Science in Nursing degree.As a professional nurse, Lindsay worked in oncology at Kingston Hospital, serving as Nurse of Hope twice. She then joined the Ulster County Department of Health, where she worked for many years, retiring in 2013.As a seven-year-old child, Lindsay suffered a catastrophic illness from which she was not expected to survive. Shedid come through it, defying all expectations and achievingnear celebrity status at New York Hospital. Her eighth birthday was celebrated in the hospital as she was beginning to recover. That illness was believed to have been the precursor of multiple sclerosis, for which she received a diagnosis in 1986. She continued to work at her job, in spite of increasing disability.She is survived by husband Peter Shea, sisters Robyn Palette and Hannah Lansky, nephews Gordon MacKay, Frank MacKay, Jonah Lansky, Caleb Lansky, and niece Gillian Palette, all of whom miss her greatly. A brother,Joseph MacKay Jr., passed away in 2005.
