Mary Catherine Brady KINGSTON- Mary Catherine Brady, 68, of Kingston, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Westchester Medical Center. She was born Dec. 8, 1945 in The Bronx, to the late James and Beatrice “Betty” (Condon) Brady. Mary was a graduate of Lehman College. She had previously worked at Sullivan ARC as the Assistant Executive Director and at Ulster ARC as the Director of Day Programs. For the past 18 years, she has been educating children in both Kingston and Plattekill at Head Start. Mary was very active in the community; she volunteered with the Ulster Literacy Association where she was both a tutor and a trainer, and helped develop a literacy program for both men and women at the Ulster County Jail serving as both instructor and mentor on a weekly basis since 2003. She was a member of the Ladies AOH, and very proud of her Irish heritage. She was also a former Board Member of the Kingston Area Library. Mary was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Kingston where she was a Eucharistic Minister, volunteered with the jail ministry, and was a Religious Education Instructor at St. Joseph’s Religious Education Program. Mary is the loving mother of Christine LaValle and her husband Andrew, whom she considered her son, of Kingston, and the loving grandmother of, Matthew, James (Jim), Michael, and Katelyn. She was the sister of James Brady of Frederick, Md., Patricia Jeffrey of Massapequa Park, N.Y., Kat Brady of Haliewa, Hawaii, and Eileen Ingrim of St. Louis, Mo. Mary’s greatest joy was family. She was the most amazing mother, and will live on through her children and grandchildren always. She could always be found on the sidelines of Coleman sporting events and theater cheering on her grandchildren, and sitting with whatever part of the family wasn’t on the field, court or stage. She was a tireless cheerleader for her grandkids, both on and off the field, the most loving, giving and generous Grandma anyone could ask for, the one Matt, Jim, Mike and Kate were so lucky to have and call their own. All their lives will forever be better and enriched because of her presence in them. Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Sunday July 27th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The procession will form at 11 a.m. on Monday July 28, 2014 at the funeral home and proceed to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 242 Wall Street, Kingston, N.Y., 12401 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to John A. Coleman Catholic High School, 430 Hurley Ave., Hurley, N.Y., 12443. Light a candle in memory of Mary at www.Key

I still think of Mary often, she was the best supervisor. I also remember a time we had no cook, so she took that job on, as well as her job and would start sing to song that went "this girl is one fire". She would always bring a smile to work. Miss her often. Chris your Mom was one of the few amazing woman in the world!

Deepest sympathies to Mary's family! Mary was one of the most amazing human services professional I have worked with over the years. She was an inspiring internship supervisor for many SUNY New Paltz human services students and she will be missed for her compassion and deep respect for people, especially people who were marginalized. Thank you, Mary, for all that you did for people around you!

Dear Chris, Andrew and children,
We are so deeply sorry to hear of your mom/Gram's passing. What an amazing woman. I remember her as a feisty force of nature- always positive, encouraging, loving. Exuberant! You could count on her. She was honest even in tough to be honest situations. She was a joyous soul who made me smile on more days than I can count. Sending love and prayers. Lisa Campbell (Van Gelder) and Keily Carr Hayes

What I will miss most is Mary greeting me with "How are you my friend" and knowing she considered me her friend. When I would ask her how she was feeling, her answer was always "Ducky". Head Start has lost a woman who had a Head Start Heart!

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Mary was an amazing woman and my husband and I admired her for all she did in the community, the parish, the school and for her family. I so enjoyed spending time with her preparing for a show at Coleman, and Mike loved talking to her whenever he could, at CCD, after Mass or at one of the many events she attended for her grandchildren. Her spirit will live on in the many whom she served and touched. Your very special, loving and caring family are evidence of her impact on those around her. She will be missed, but has left so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love to you and your family, Mary Anne, Mike, Michelle, Mikey & Max Moughan

Your family is special and that's a testament to how wonderful your mom was. I know she was proud of everything your kids did, but I'll never forget the smile she had on her face watching Jim as Pinocchio. Here's to all the wonderful memories you'll have forever. You are definitely in our prayers.
