Randall F. Reese, 75, of Methuen Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2023 after a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure. He was born on June 28, 1947, in
Kingston, NY, to Fred Reese and Lilian Post Reese. On April 8, 1973 Randy married his soul mate, Sandra (Sandy) Rodden. They built a beautiful life together in Plattsburgh NY, and were blessed with a son, Brian, in 1977. Randy believed we never stop learning and growing. He had passion for learning and cultivating that same passion in others. To that end, he got his Bachelor's Degree at Suny Albany and his Master's Degree in Education at Suny Plattsburgh. For Randy being a professor was not just a job, but who he was. He taught English language Arts at North Country Community College in Ticonderoga NY, at Clinton Correctional Facility in
Dannemora, NY, and spent 17 years until his retirement as an Associate Professor of Humanities at Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh NY. In May of 2002, his dedication to teaching was highlighted when he received the prestigious SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. An award made all the richer because his son received it for student excellence 2 years prior.Randy was the definition of a "Renaissance man." He was an avid reader, especially enjoying books in Philosophy and Spirituality. He enjoyed reading in French, as well as English. He wrote poetry and compositions. He loved music and listened to a wide variety of genres. He played the flute, the fife, the penny whistle, guitar, and piano. After his retirement, he began exploring yet another artistic facet of himself and created beautiful weavings, wood carvings, and drawings. He was devoted to the study of Tai Chi and Chi Gung, being faithful to his daily practice for over 35 years. Randy was also vegetarian and enjoyed working in the garden with Sandy, growing their own produce and being blessed by his wife's culinary creations. He loved his family deeply, both of blood and of heart. He treasured his relationship with his son, and wanting to deepen it further, made the decision with Sandy to uproot their life in Plattsburgh to move closer to Brian, daughter-in law Monique, and grandson Brevyn, to whom he spent the last chapter of his life as a doting Papa.Although he was a softspoken introvert people were drawn to him. Over 35 years ago he gained a son of the heart, Tim Patno, who he and Sandy affectionately nicknamed "Two". In recent years the family of his heart grew even more. Pastor Elisha Cho was drawn into the family and looked to Randy as his American father.Randy was fascinated by the interconnectedness of all living things. How we are all part of one garden. How every moment is meant from the Divine as a gift. He strived to live this out and at his passing it was discovered how his presence sprinkled seeds of joy, of welcome, of value and respect to those he came into contact within daily life. The people that we sometimes overlook in the hustle and bustle. The mailman, the primary care Dr, the hair stylist, the pharmacist. Dad helped them feel seen and welcomed them to this garden called life.Randy leaves behind many who will mourn his loss. His immediate family: his loving wife of 50 years Sandy, his son Brian Reese, daughter-in-law Monique Reese, grandson Brevyn Reese. His sister, Joyce Ricketson, brother-in -law Victor Ricketson, nephew Victor Jr Ricketson, and Niece Holly Ricketson.Although we cannot see him for a time, death will not stop the seeds of his lessons from taking root and blossoming into the future.A Celebration of Randy's Life will be held on May 6, 2023 at Danvers Church of the Nazarene in Danvers Massachusetts. Additional information about the celebration of life will be published in mid April and made available on Campbell Funeral home website at that time
