Richard Carl Biezynski, 73 passed away September 25,2022 at the Albany Medical Center after a short illness surrounded by his family.Richard was born in Brooklyn , NY March 14, 1949 to the late Chesta and Richard W Biezynski.Richard graduated from Bayside HS in 1967. Richard went on to join the family business, Garden Spot Florist is Greenpoint Brooklyn. Richard was the 3rd generation to continue in the florist business. His grandfather William Biezynski started the florist during the 1920’s after working in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.Richard followed the family interest at the shop with an assortment of apes, monkeys, birds, reptiles dogs and of course flowers.Richard began his love of birds as a young boy when his parents gave him a flock of 50 Rhode Island Red hens to raise in their backyard in Bayside.From Richard’s early childhood he spent some of his most memorable summers near Hudson, NY. His great grandmother and her family had a farm at Bells Pond.Richard enjoyed all things to do with the outdoors from snorkeling in the Hamptons, hiking, fishing, canoeing, hunting and horseback riding.Richard loved the Hudson Valley. It took over a decade for him to find the place he would call home- Northwind Farms in Tivoli.Richard worked with Scenic Hudson to preserve a number of properties on the road he loved so much to keep it open and undeveloped.Richard is a member of the Agriculture & Open Space Committee and the Community Preservation Committee.Richard enjoyed it when folks would stop by the farm to shop so he could share his many stories. Richard developed many great and long lasting friendships with customers over his 40 years in farming.Richard and his son Russell worked together to develop Northwind Farms to where it is today. Russell has taken on many of the responsibilities to allow Richard to slowly try to retire. Russell and his wife Amanda will continue the high standards that Richard instilled in them.Richard is survived by his wife of 40+ years Jane Biezynski (Krysiak). He is also survived by his son Russell Biezynski and his wife Amanda (Costello) and Amanda’s wonderful family from New York . Also surviving is his sister Denise Schell from NY, his cousin Cissy Scanlon and her family from Utah, his cousin John Springer and his family from Long Island ,his cousin Louise Steel from Florida and his nieces , nephew and sister-in-law from Florida and many wonderful friends that are too many to mention.We will miss him terribly.Just a Brooklyn Boy who achieved his dream to be a Farmer.Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 6 to 8 & Friday, September 30, 2022 from 6 to 8. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook. Arrangements are under the care of Burnett & White Funeral Homes , 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY.
