Alois Matousek Obituary

Alois (Louie) A. Matousek 91, years has worked so hard over his lifetime to be able to enter the Gates of Heaven to be with our creator and back with his family and friends. Born in Schenectady New York to Louis and Lillian Matousekon January 27, 1930. Louie graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Schenectady in 1947, where he met the love of his life Arline Strong, they married on July 1, 1950, they have been together for 71 years. Louie has made many accomplishments. Louie and Arline were blessed with 3 children: Patricia Lee Lewandowski and husband Paul James A. Matousek and his wife Mary Elizabeth, Cheryl Lane Gilles, and husband Jon. His Grandchildren: Paul D. Lewandowski II and his wife Carla, Kimberly Ann Woodcock and her husband Todd, Rachel Shevyand her husband Robert, Katelyn Matousek and her wife Samantha Rossi. Great Grand Children: Zachary Adam Lewandowski and his love Jessica Infield, Harrison, and Natalie Shevy. Louie worked hard all his life starting as a teenager working at the Sunoco Station. After graduation he started to work for Schenectady Varnish Company in Rotterdam N.Y. He served 2 years in the United States Army and 8 years in the National Guard, he received the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He returned to Schenectady and returned to Schenectady Varnish Company and retired after 44 years as the Manager of Safety, Security and Fire Protection for all the plants of Schenectady Chemicals. He also went to work for the Town of Edinburg as the Town Assessor for 29 years, also served as Saratoga County Committee Man for several years. Louie was a member of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows started in 1947 and worked his way up to be Grand Master of New York State, and also a trustee for the United Methodist Church in Edinburg. They built a house and moved to Edinburg in 1982 on the Great Sacandaga Lake. Louie (Dad, Grandpa) was loved and respected by his family and friends. His family would like to thank Kelly Jenkins for the wonderful care of Louie, and the Edinburg Emergency Squad and Denise, Hospice of Saratoga County and Warren County. Services will be conducted by US Army and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers please donate to Edinburg Emergency Squad or Hospice. Viewing hours are January 20, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Northville Funeral Home on Bridge Street, Northville, New York. Burial will be in the spring and announced at a later date.
