Anthony Mazurek Obituary

Anthony "Budd" C. Mazurek Schenectady- It is with great sorrow that the family of Anthony "Budd" C. Mazurek announced his death on July 16th, 2024. He was the cherished husband of Carole Merrill-Mazurek; father of Lisa Mazurek Jewett (Jesse Wilner), Jeffery Mazurek (Elena Rizzo); step-father of Sean Segrue (Victoria Wagner), Meredith Osta (William), and Alexis Handy (Earl); beloved grandfather of Kira, Kaylee, Maeve, Megan, William, Genevieve, Nicholas, Spencer, and Luke.
Budd was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 16, 1945 to his late parents, Anthony C. Mazurek and Evelyn (Holland) Mazurek. He was raised in Baltimore, becoming a lifetime Oriole and Ravens fan. He served in the United States Army as a military intelligence officer during the Vietnam War.
Those who knew Budd would call him a "stand up guy", he was kind, compassionate and supportive to all who crossed his path. A longtime member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, he was very involved in his community. As a true leader, he ran nonprofits dedicated to the care of the disenfranchised and homeless veterans.
He was a man of many talents. Budd loved golf, bowling and music, and he was the lead singer in the "Polish Backyard Band". His greatest impact was on his family, he was a loving, dedicated, kind and silly grandfather. Budd was an amazing husband, dad and step-dad. As a family, we are grateful to be part of his legacy. He will also be greatly missed by his canine companion, Moxie.
A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date. Please consider making a donation in Budd's memory to Community Caregivers, 2021 Western Avenue Suite 104 Albany, NY 12203 or Saratoga County RPC, 1214 Saratoga Road, Ballston Spa, New York 12020.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kenneth Schwartz for his love and dedication.

Bud graduated from officer candidate class OC509-68. He endured, with grace, perhaps the best leadership training that was available in the United States Army, if not the best available anywhere. He then served our nation with pride, during one of the most trying times our country has endured. I was proud to graduate with Bud, and considered him a Brother.

To Carole and the whole family - as neighbors, we fondly remember being included in many parties, dinners and festive occasions. Budd was always such a welcoming host. We shared many discussions sitting on our porches and at tables over a meal. Budd was a man of deep convictions and possessed keen insight. You always knew where you stood with him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a strong moral compass. We were blessed to have called Budd a friend for so many years. Our hearts of full of sadness at his passing. We hope that the strength of your memories and the support of your family and friends will help you during this very difficult time. May his memory be for a blessing. With much love, Rosy and Neil
