Armand Mastroianni Obituary

Armand Mastroianni was born on July 13, 1952, and passed away unexpectedly, at his "happy place", the Alpine Lake Campground on May 1. There, you could find him relaxing by the lake, out to dinner with friends, or spending time with family.

He was the type of guy who would hate an obituary that gushes. He was too quiet for that. He wouldn't want a fuss, even though a fuss is exactly what he deserves. Armand was plain and simple- a very good man. He took care of his family in all of the ways one could. He was a fun man. He was a stable man. He was the rock to many people, who, quite simply, can't imagine life without him.

Armand grew up working and helping in his family's bakery. His father, Armand, passed when he was 10. He was a graduate of Scotia Glenville High School, in the 1970 graduating class. His love of music lead to a job, touring with bands in the northeast, as a sound engineer. From there he worked for the state of NY until he retired. Armand was also a dedicated member of the Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 Years. He was a first responder and successful business owner. He was one of the hardest working people, taking vacations from his 9-5, to run his sprinkler business, "Water Works." He, very recently, retired.

He was a lover of gizmos and gadgets, he was fascinated by weather and the human body, and he was a man who, quite literally, knew everything.

Armand provided his family with everything they could ever want or need. His grandchildren affectionately referred to as "Papa Grumpy", because of his rough exterior. Everyone knew though, that just below the surface, was a teddy bear with a heart of gold. He was so fun and a real treasure, to those lucky enough to have known him. "One in a million", as they say.

Armand is predeceased by his mother, Anne Belmonte, his father, Armand Mastroianni Sr., and his sister Cathy.

Armand is survived by his wife, of 30 years, Joane, whose love, she says. "changed her life." Their mutual adoration was a powerful thing. Someone just told Joane, "that their relationship made her believe in love and marriage."

He also leaves behind his most cherished daughter, Abby, whose pride in her dad is immeasurable. It would be impossible, to put into words, the depth of love she had for him, and he, her.
In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren; Annabelle, Isabelle, Jovi, Finnegan, Lindy, Remi and Cecilia; and his nephew Warren Droms. His stepchildren, Brooke and Zack Stone, his Son in law, Lyle McCormack, who was with him at the very end and his step sisters, Kathleen Belmonte Swanker and Michele Belmonte Colaianni. .
All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 3:00 PM Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Company, 360 Riverview Road, Rexford, NY 12148.

Please stay a while after and visit with the family at a reception that will immediately follow the service.

Raise a glass of Glenlivet- that was his drink! And please, in lieu of flowers, consider a gift to the Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Department. They treated his family so sweetly, in the awful period of mourning.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
