Carol Seeley Obituary

Carol Ann (Toohey) Seeley, 84, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, with her loving husband and caregiver by her side.

Born in Schenectady, to Charles and Frances Toohey, on September 8, 1938, Carol lived a faith-filled life of compassion, wisdom and love. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy (where she met George), St. Peter's School of Nursing and the College of St. Rose. She spent the majority of her working years as a dedicated R.N at St. Clare's Hospital, a place she considered her "other home", where she was blessed to make lifetime friends.

Carol's path through life reflected all that is good in the human spirit. She was happiest spending quality time with her family and friends for decades at their camp on Sacandaga Lake, playing golf with the ladies (or even with Dad when he let her), playing bridge up until four years ago (and often never losing a hand), summer vacations on Cape Cod, enjoying music and the piano for hours at a time, and doing her word puzzles. In earlier years, she and George cut a rug on the dance floor and could mesmerize all with their jitterbug numbers. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers would have been proud!

Carol is survived by her adoring husband of 63 years, George Seeley, who was her primary caregiver, working tirelessly to provide her with continual comfort, dignity and grace. She is also survived by her two children, Deborah A. Seeley and Jeffrey C. Seeley, as well as two grandchildren, Jasmine Seeley and MacKenzie Seeley and many other relatives and loving friends. Our "forever angel" will be loved as Wife, Mom, Nina, Aunt, Cousin and friend.

Calling hours will be Saturday, July 29th from 10:30 a.m until 12:30 p.m. at Gleason Funeral Home, followed by her funeral mass, at 1 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial will be at a later time at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave.,17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601 or the Eddy SeniorCare, 1938 Curry Rd, Schenectady, NY 12303.

To the Seeley Family
I am sure the "girls" from 3S were there to greet Carol when she arrived in Heaven. My mom, Anne Bogdan, was part of that great group of nurses. They were a special group who cared for their patients like family. Dedication and work ethic were at their core.
Mr. Seeley, you deserve a "special place" since it sounds as if you provided Carol with love and devotion in her final days. I know and relate to what you have done since I was there with my mom. Please take care of yourself now - know that it would Carol's wish for you.
May God bless all of you now and always.

Carol was a fun, beautiful lady. She was a fantastic nurse, on 3 South, and then Gastro. She was a great bridge player. But most of all, a great friend. Will miss you Carol. Love Barb Schwant
