Cory Daniel Obituary

With intense sadness and heart ache, the family of Cory A Daniel announce his passing on June 30,2022.

Cory was born September 22,1986. He graduated from Niskayuna High School where he was a valuable wrestler. Cory continued his education and wrestling at Long Island Community college. Cory ultimately transferred to Delhi University.

Cory is predeceased by his identical twin brother, Adam, whom he missed with unbearable sadness, his loving sister Kayla, Cory's maternal grandmother Lillian McCoy, and his paternal grandmother Oris Edenfield. Cory will be profoundly and lovingly missed by his proud mother Joyce Fordham and his brother Bret M Daniel whom he admired with his total being.

Cory was gifted to have an enormous support system, which is attributed to his dear friend and mentor, Peter Enrico. We can all learn from their friendship and acceptance of each other.

Cory struggled with addiction which was his coping mechanism to ease his pain with mental illness. He struggled each day, despite counseling and medication. He often was unable to acquire medication due to physicians leaving, or being forced to wait weeks to get his medications renewed. When Cory was good, he was better than great. As a message to mental health care workers, law enforcement, the judiciary, and others, please remember those with whom you deal with will always be someone's son, daughter, mother or father, dear friend possibly even your loved one. You usually see only one small part of them. Many programs lack adequate resources and staff for treatment, follow ups and wellness checks.

We ask that you remember and think of Cory with awareness to help expose this silent epidemic. If you take the time to listen to someone talk about their pain and struggle, it makes a difference. Mental illness is not a shame, nor burdensome, but unfortunately has potentially great legal and financial constraints and consequences. Cory's family and friends ask that you show an openness to those that want to be heard, and to also listen and see without judgment, Ask yourself why is that person sad, angry, or mad? Understand that person may be struggling. Remember that kindness is showing concern for someone else without concern for yourself. This is who Cory was.

Cory proudly was in recovery, and passed away from manic depression, as did his twin, Adam. Cory's death is a senseless loss of life. Losing a loved one by mental illness results in an anguishing and tragic pain no family should ever have to endure. We love and miss Cory and Adam with all our hearts.

This obituary is for awareness nothing more.

Hi, just wanted to let you know I found this obituary by accident searching for a friend's relative. Your tribute is profound and affecting. I've lost loved ones to mental illness, as well. My heart and love to you all as you continue loving them and fighting for better mental health care. I'll have Cory and Adam in my heart, as well.

Joyce and Bret, I'm so saddened to hear this. The boys are warriors in the truest form. They fought hard and loved harder. Cory and Adam are both together, no more suffering, and no more pain. Sending you, family and friends {{{BIG HUGS}}} and comforting prayers, and LOVE.

I am at a loss for words to provide any sort of comfort to the entire family during this tragedy. There is none. I appreciate and commend the truth.
I grew up with all 3 of them. I can still hear the twins playing tricks and hollering down the hall at crossroads. They were too cool for school.
My sincerest condolences.

My deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of Cory. I did not know him personally; his obituary caught my eye and I will be reading this in my Team meeting at a local Schenectady mental health clinic as as reminder of systemic burnout and the negative implications it can have on our clients' wellbeing and even lives. Thank you for sharing this, thank you for empowering the system to change. We are with you.

Thank you for honesty and openness. No one could possibly understand the lack of services unless you have a family member in need. I am so sorry for the loss of your children. I am hoping your loss assists others to understand funding is needed in a huge way for all to deal with the cards they were given at birth. My thoughts and prayers to your family in heaven and earth.
