Edmund Andryszczyk Obituary
Edmund was the son of the late Edmund J. Andryszczyk and Sadie M. (Just) Andryszczyk of Rotterdam. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1953.
On June 9, 1956 he and his wife of 55 years, Marlyn D. Riccio were married at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Schenectady. They were the proud parents of Theresa Ann Ackerman and the late John Joseph Andryszczyk.
Edmund, a member of the Teamsters' Union, drove trucks for Wooden's Express and St. Johnsbury, retiring after several years of loyal service. During the 1950's he served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Football Giants. For many years he was a Board member of the Albany Polish Community Center where he and his wife Marlyn enjoyed Polish foods and Polka dancing.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marlyn (2011), son John Joseph Andryszczyk (2012) and daughter-in-law Karen Gail (Yost) Andryszczyk (2022). Edmund is survived by his daughter Theresa Ackerman of Guilderland, his sister Caroline (Walter) Callahan of Boynton Beach, FL, his brother-in-law Richard (Christina) Riccio of Schenectady, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The oldest of 23 grandchildren of the late Alexander and Antonina (Gaska) Andryszczyk, Edmund was the patriarch of the extended Andryszczyk family.
Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home. His funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, October 12, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Edmund's name may be made to St. Luke's Catholic Church, 1241 State Street, Schenectady, NY 12304 or to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12302.
