Eddie was my beloved childhood friend and we grew up together as neighbors on University Place. We were always plotting fun and crazy ways of passing time on our summer vacations. Walks to Jug O’ Milk for ice cream, Woolworth’s on State St. for french fries, and Danny’s on Eastern Ave for cream soda! Marathon croquet games in his back yard and picnics to Jackson’s Garden on the Union College campus filled our days. We played checkers for hours with our neighbor, Mrs Langley on her front porch. There was always a popsicle for us. She would also walk across the street to us, arms full of magazines and say, “Here kids, take these, and if you don’t want them, throw them out!” We would get hysterical because this seemed to us just her way of getting us to clean her house of old magazines. We carried on that joke for years. If one of us gave something to the other, it always came with, “if you don’t want this, just throw it out!” So many wonderful childhood memories included my friend Eddie. He brought together all my friends at his house one awful summer day to be there for me when he broke the news to me that my boyfriend had died suddenly while I was away. I will never forget his kindness that day. My biggest regret is that I didn’t keep in touch with him throughout my adult life. What I didn’t tell him in life, I will tell him now, I loved you Eddie. You were always there to make me laugh, to indulge me in my crazy ideas, and provide a shoulder for me to lean on. You were the best friend a girl could ever have. Some day I will see you on the other side and I can tell you how important you were to me. All my love and deepest sympathy to Eddie’s family.

Jeff, and I are so sorry for the family of Eddie. He was a gentle man, and a gentleman. Always soft spoken. He will always be remembered as a wonderful man, who loved his family.
