Eileen Mary Greco

Mrs. Eileen Mary Greco, 82, of Chapel Place, Amsterdam, passed away Thursday afternoon January 15, 2009 at home. Born in North Troy, NY on April 20, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Madigan Farrell. Mrs. Greco was educated at St. Augustine Elementary School and graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy. Mrs. Greco also graduated from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Amsterdam. Eileen was employed and retired from St. Mary's Hospital as a registered professional nurse. She also was employed at the Albany Veterans Administration Hospital. Mrs. Greco was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam where she was fully involved in activities and functions at the church, St. Mary's Institute and Bishop Scully High School. She was also a member of St. Mary's Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, the Ladies of Charities, a volunteer for the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross and a member of the Mohawk Valley Community Concerts. Her husband, V. Peter Greco to whom she married on July 18, 1953 survives her at home. Mrs. Greco is also survived by seven daughters, Patricia Greco of Groton, MA; Linda (Danny) Martuscello of Marlboro, NY; Dr. Kathleen (Joe) Clark of Belmont, MA; Mary Greco of Auburndale, MA; Michele (Mark) Reilly of Alexandria, VA; Margaret (Keith) Greco and Carol (John) Champitto of Rensselaer, NY; nine grandchildren, Danielle and Gina Martuscello, Emma and Anna Clark, Jami, Niki and Robert Lew, Phillip Reilly and Jack Ryan Champitto, three step-granddaughters, Ashley, Lindsey and Ava Champitto, two brothers, Arthur (Nancy) Farrell of Allentown, PA and Jerry (Mary) Farrell of Carmichael, CA; two sisters, Kay (Tom) Anderson of Milwaukee, WI; and Dr. Margaret Farrell of Delmar, NY. Many loving nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 10:15 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, followed at 11 o'clock by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY. Calling hours are Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 at the mortuary.
