Gene Edwards Obituary

Gene Franklin Edwards Jr. "Butch," 52, a resident of Northville, died suddenly Monday, October 31, at his home. He was born in Gloversville on October 6, 1959, the son of Edda Friese Edwards and Gene Franklin Edwards Sr. Butch attended Wells and Northville schools and was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, hunter, and sportsman. Butch was employed by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation as a conservation operations supervisor for over 31 years. He also was a union steward and officer for the CSEA and member of the Fraternal Organization of the Freemasons. Butch also was a member of the Northville Presbyterian Church. Butch is survived by his loving wife, Ingrid Christensen Edwards; two sons, Ryan and Patrick Edwards; siblings, Amber Jensen, Peter Edwards, and Celene Frasier (John); his father, Gene Edwards Sr.; stepmother, Judy Wilson Edwards; and mother-in-law, Katherine Whitehouse. Butch was predeceased by his dear mother, Edda Friese Edwards; and father-in-law and friend, Gary Whitehouse. Butch is also survived by nephews and niece, Russell Jensen, Wesley Jensen, Tyler Jensen, Ian Edwards, Benjamin and Erin Gilmore; great-nephew, Jacob Jensen and his loyal companion, his loving dog, Annie, who he cherished and adored. He was beloved by his family and friends, of which he had many. Friends may call Friday, November 4, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge Street, Northville, followed by a graveside service in King Cemetery, Town of Northampton. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to make donations to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010 and Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Breast Cancer, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309, in loving memory of his mother.
