George R. Shaw Round LakeGeorge R. Shaw, 65, of Prospect Ave., died Sunday evening at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family, following a short illness. Affectionately known by many as Alf or Alfie, he was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on February 28, 1948, son of the late Arthur and Enid Adams Shaw. A White Plains High School graduate, George served in the US Army, stationed in Germany. He worked as a technician for Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in West Milton, NY for many years. He was a proud member of the NRA who also enjoyed reading, games of Scrabble, crosswords and his many trips and time spent at his lake house. George's proudest moments in life were those spent with his daughter and grandson. Papa was very active in Hunter's upbringing, being a father figure in his life. George, his daughter and grandson took many road trips over the years, time that will never be forgotten by them. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marlene A. Pirrone Shaw; his beloved daughter, Kelly Ann Shaw of Round Lake; his cherished grandson, Hunter N. Shaw; brother, Donald (Marianne) Shaw of Briar Cliff, NY; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville, NY 12118. Burial with military honors at the Saratoga National Cemetery will follow.
