Jean VanPatten Obituary

Jean A. VanPatten, 91, passed away Friday afternoon, February 9th at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.Born and educated in Middleburgh, Jean was the daughter of the late Irvin and Gladys (Smeaton) Lawyer.A former employee of the former Holiday Inn in Schenectady for 18 years, Jean enjoyed picking blueberries, family gatherings and fishing with her son, Mark.Predeceased in 1967 by her husband of 20 years, Edward M. VanPatten, whom she married on April 20, 1947; and her son, Edward VanPatten in 2003.Jean is survived by her son, Mark A. VanPatten of Rotterdam. A memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be held on Thursday afternoon, February 15th at 2 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the services.Spring interment will be held in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jean's memory to a charity of choice.To leave a message or a condolence for Jean's family, please visit www.bondfuneralhome.com.
