KAREN MESSERI

Karen Messeri of Charlton, passed away at Ellis Hospital on Sunday, surrounded by her loving family. Karen was born in Brooklyn, NY, June 13, 1944 and grew up on Long Island in West Babylon, NY. She had lived in Charlton, NY for the past eight years. Before that, she had lived in Wells, NY for 16 years. Karen was a loving housewife and had performed secretarial duties for the family business. She previously worked in electronics. She was an avid reader, loved flowers, cooking, spending time with family and being a generous grandmother. Karen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Messeri; her two daughters, Donna (Lawrence) Garthe of Fountain Inn, SC, Kim (Thomas) Pottenburgh of Clifton Park, NY; her mother, Marion Schroeder of West Babylon, NY; brother, John Schroeder of Daytona Beach, FL; sister, Ellen MacDonald of North Babylon, NY; grandchildren, Lauren and James Garthe, Brigette Downing, Tiffany, Vienna, Brandon, and Eden Pottenburgh; also survived by one great-grandchild, Gwendolyn Downing. She was predeceased by her father, Edward Schroeder. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Rd. (Rt 146A), Ballston Lake. Calling hours 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jonesville Cemetery, Jonesville. Arrangements are by the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home.
