Margaret Mount Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Mount, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 3, 2021. She was born April 14, 1934 in Buffalo, New York to Frank and Emily Metzler. She married the love of her life, Joseph Grant Mount, on February 7, 1959. Peggy or "Honey Bee" as Joseph calls her, was smart, witty and lived life to its fullest even as she battled Alzheimer's. She loved teaching and served as the President of the North Colonie Teachers Association and taught the 4th grade for most of her career. Teaching children was her passion - she saw potential in every child. Peggy also taught Sunday Bible School at Shenendehowa Methodist Church.  She loved Silver Bay in Lake George and spent many summers there. Peggy also enjoyed swimming, painting, bridge, crossword puzzles and most of all, playing with her grandchildren. Peggy is survived by her husband, Joseph, her brother and his wife Charles and Joan Metzler, sister Donna Sleininger; sister-in-law, Betty Mount; Peggy's two daughters and their husbands Kristin and Greg Herrera and Susan and Harvey Spencer; grandchildren, Gregory Herrera, Sarah Spencer and Jessica Spencer; and her many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a sister Carol Colligan. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Please join us in celebrating her life Friday morning January 8, 2021 between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9 in Clifton Park. Interment will follow in Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady.
