Maria Korotitsch

Maria Korotitsch, 70, of West Shore Road, Delanson, NY, died peacefully Wednesday morning, December 31, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Maria was born to Iwan and Anna Korotitsch in Tarakany, Ukraine on November 1, 1938. Having survived the hardships of World War II, Maria immigrated to the United States with her parents, Iwan and Anna; brother, Michael; and grandparents, Jacob and Horina in December of 1949. A lifelong resident of Delanson, Maria was a graduate of Duanesburgh High School and subsequently worked at G.E.X. in Latham, NY as a customer service representative. Maria formally retired in the late 70s due to issues with a congenital Neuro Muscular Disease-Charcot Marie Tooth Syndrome. Maria, up until becoming ill with cancer earlier this year, was an active member of the Delanson United Methodist Church, Maria's faith in Christ was always present and she did not fear her passing. Maria was also an active member of the Duanesburg Senior Dining Center where she developed wonderful relationships with other seniors as well as with the dedicated staff. Maria loved animals, had many cats throughout her life, gave to local animal shelters, and constantly looked to care for the wildlife outside her home. Maria was a focal point of the family that loved her. She is survived by her brother, Michael Korotitsch; and sister-in-law, Katherine Korotitsch of Duanesburg, NY; as well as numerous nieces and nephews that include David Korotitsch of Colonie, Michael Korotitsch, Jr. of Renssellaer, Robert Korotitsch and Linnea Pascucci of Schenectady, Sandra and Matt Boisjoli of Duanesburg, and William and Carrie Korotitsch and their children, Anna and Jesse, all of North Carolina. Loving, dedicated, local friends who were like family to her also survived Maria, Mr. Bruce Barton and Ms. Joan Clemons of Delanson, NY. In lieu of flowers, Maria and her family request that donations be made to the Duanesburg Senior Dining Center. Viewing hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, to be immediately followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. at White-Van Buren Funeral Home, 1779 Main Street in Delanson, NY. A ceremony of Christian Burial will take place in the spring of 2009 and will be announced at a later date.
