Nicholas Forte Obituary

Nicholas D. Forte, Jr., 72, former longtime resident of Mechanicville, died Easter Sunday, April 17th, at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama, following a brief illness.

Born in Troy, May 4, 1949, son of the late Nicholas and Adriana (Thelma) Rinaldi Forte, Sr, Nick was a 1967 graduate of Mechanicville High School. For most of his adult life, Nick worked for state and federal government. He began his career as a senior administrative Analyst for NY State Council on Children and Families in Albany. Then he worked as an analyst for the NYS Dept of Tax and Finance's Tax Appeals from 1998–2002. After moving to Alabama, he worked the next 20 years for Gulf Coast HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) as Director of Operations, and retired last month. He was a member of St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church.

While in his beloved hometown of Mechanicville, he established and ran the Mechanicville Girls' Lassie League and traveling team for many years. Nick ran a youth Basketball league at the local community center, where he served as a former Vice-President of the center. He was a former member of his hometown zoning board and the local Elks Lodge, a former member and past President of the Mechanicville City School Dist. Board of Education, and was very proud to have been elected to serve as Mechanicville's Commissioner of Finance from 1998–2002.

Family was everything to Nick. He adored his kids, sister, grandbabies, nieces and nephews and many friends, and anyone who had the great pleasure of meeting him. Nicknames he lovingly responded to were Nicky, Uncle Butch, Papa Bear and Poppa.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Sami Forte.

Survivors include his son Nicholas D. Forte III, daughters Heaven (Jason) Brewer, Jennifer (Kyle Turek) Forte, and Lauren (Daniel Butts) Forte, sister Nancy (Philip) Bailey, grandkids Bella Brewer, Gabrielle and Lexie Turek, nieces and nephews Philip and Joe Bailey, Kristin Bailey-O'Keefe, Miles Dunn and Amber Dunn-Manning and beloved canine "Minnie", and a host of lifelong friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 30th at 11 a.m. at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St., Mechanicville, with burial to follow in St. Paul's Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at Church from 10 a.m. until Mass at 11 a.m.

To the family of Nick Forte, Jr. I am sorry to read about
the passing of Nick.
I work for NYS DVA on the same floor in the Tower as
CC & F and enjoyed talking sports, The 3 Stooges and William Shatner with Nick often.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.
