Owen J. Simmons Ballston Spa Owen J. Simmons, 75, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 23, 2015. Born in Clifton Park, New York on December 21, 1939, he was the son of Frank and Inez Simmons. He was a graduate of Shenendehowa High School. Owen worked for General Electric Co. in Schenectady for 32 years, retiring in 1997. Owen was an avid outdoorsman and loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Big Daddy. He could fix anything and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. One of his greatest enjoyments in life was sharing special times with many of his friends and family at Mauler's Den Hunting Club in Lake Desolation where he served as president for several years. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. Owen is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Darlene; his sons, Eric Simmons of Ballston Spa and Scott Simmons (Maureen) of Ballston Spa; his grandchildren, Johnna, Eric, Kelsey and Raven; sisters, Ruth Johnson of Mechanicville, Charlotte and June of Clifton Park; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will follow at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter, 6010 County Farm Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
