PAUL BIETTE Obituary

Paul C. Biette, 64, of Watervliet, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Samaritan Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born in Troy on November 22, 1945, and was the son of the late Paul W. and Alma Carl Biette. Paul graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1963 and HVCC in 1965, both in Troy. He proudly served his country in Vietnam in the Army from 1966 to 1968, and earned the rank of Spec 5. He worked for many years in Green Island in the Ford Motor Car Co. then transferring to the Sheldon Road Plant in Westland, MI, and retiring in 2000. Paul was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Paul was also an avid sports fan his entire life and always looked forward to the NFL tickets. His most recent trip was to Indianapolis, with his son, to see the Jets play. Paul was a member of American Legion Post #1489 in Wynantskill, the UAW Local 163, and the Polish American Club of South Troy. He was also a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy, where as a young boy he served as an altar boy. Paul was the loving father of Christina M. (Joe) Daniels, Paula J. (Dave) Szwarcberg, and Timothy (Tina) Biette. Paul was the cherished "Poppy" of Taylor and Kyle Daniels, Jake, Josh and Kaylee Szwarcberg, and Braylon and Paige Biette. He is also survived by his sister, June A. (Marc) Misericordia, and his brother, Tommy (Mar) Biette. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Gwen, Tommy, Betsy, Maggie and Matthew, and their families whom he cherished as his own. Paul is also survived by cousins and special friends in New York and Michigan. He was the former husband of Linda Biette Bradshaw. He is also survived by his canine companion, Sandy Beach. The family would like to extend their very special thank you to Dr. Kevin Costello, who was not only Paul's doctor, but his friend. Also to the staff at Samaritan Hospital from the ER to the 6th floor, especially Tara his nurse from ICU, for their care, compassion, and family support during his illness. Our thanks to Fr. Vaughn from Sacred Heart Parish in Troy, for his comforting words and prayers during Paul's time of need. The funeral service for Paul will be held on Monday at 9:45 a.m. at the Bocketti Funeral Home, 336 Third St., and at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery. Contributions in Paul's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 125 Wolf Rd., Albany, NY 12205 and JDRF would be appreciated.

Sometimes a song can touch a nerve
That takes me back to you
When I pick up my old guitar
And I play your favorite tune
Every now and then, some little thing
I've buried comes bubblin' up
And once in a while, you feel close enough to touch

I miss you a little since you've been gone
A few little memories keep hangin' on
I miss you a little, I guess you could say
A little too much, a little too often
A little more every day

When I go by our old house
I pretend that you're still there
Waitin' for me on the porch
But there's just an empty chair
Wish I could see you just one more time
Before I drive away
So I could stop and go inside, and say

I miss you a little since you've been gone
A few little memories keep hangin' on
I miss you a little, I guess you could say
A little too much, a little too often
A little more every day
A little too much, a little too often
A little more every day

Miss and Love You Daddy

Prayer of Remembrance
In the rising of the sun and in its going down, we remember him.
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter;
In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring;
In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer;
In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn;
In the beginning of the year and when it ends;
When we are weary and in the need of strength;
When we are lost and sick at heart;
When we have joys we yearn to share, we remember him.
So long as we live, he too shall live, for he is now a part of us, as we remember him.

Suns will set
Cities will fall
Empires will rise
But the goodness of your father
Will never be forgotten

A friend

August 23, 2010

I thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday
And days before that too
I think of you in silence
And often speak your name
All I have are memories
And a picture in a frame
Your memory is a keepsake
From which I'll never part
God has you in His keeping
I have you in my heart.
