RAYMOND BRADT Obituary

Raymond C. Bradt, 85, of Guilderland, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Ellis Hospital after a short illness. Born in Guilderland, Raymond was the son of James and Ethel Bradt. He graduated from the Draper High School and lived his entire life in Guilderland. During WWII (1943), Ray served in the 2nd Marine Division in the South Pacific Theatre and from 1945-1946 served with the occupation forces in southern Japan. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1946 with a rank of corporal. For 34 years Ray was an inspector for various federal agencies, retiring in 1981 from the Department of Defense. He was a member of the National American Legion Organization roll of honor and the Bradt family national genealogy society. Ray is survived by his wife, Christina Marsicano Bradt, whom he married on October 7, 1956; his daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Bradt and her husband, Robert Sparaco of Old Lyme, CT; two sisters, Kathryn Stevens of Guilderland and June (Dick) Stiefel of Oneonta; and his sister-in-law and husband, Connie (John) Cammarene of Rotterdam. Ray is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Ray was predeceased by his infant son, James Christopher Bradt and his brother, James J. Bradt. A calling hour will be held Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike (just west of Carman Rd.), Guilderland, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made in Ray's memory to St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd., Schenectady, NY 12303 or the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program c/o Electric City Marine Corps League, 81 Rotterdam Industrial Park, Schenectady, NY 12306.

Dear Laurie and Mrs. Bradt,

I would like to offer the condolences of the Meagher family. Laurie, the kids wanted you to know how sorry they were to hear your sad news. Take care. Fondly, Janice, Steve, Cailey, Andrew, Jack and Emily.

Dear Chris and Laurie,

I was very saddened to hear about Ray's passing and I hope you and the whole family will get through this by remembering what a decent man Ray was. I always enjoyed our visits at your house when we were kids and of course all the get together's at Uncle Ang's house, our house, etc..
