RAYMOND T. KARIS

Raymond T. Karis, 90, of Windsor Drive, died peacefully August 17, 2011, at Ellis Hospital. Raymond was born in Schenectady to Karol and Bernice Kierys (Karis), was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and attended Union College. He worked for General Electric Co. from 1940 to 1943, at which time he left to enter the Naval Service ('43-`47), becoming an electrician's mate 1st Class. He served in the South Pacific Theatre of Operations on a Submarine Tender. Upon his return from service, he worked for New York Telephone, first as a lineman, then as an installer-repairman, but was called through the Naval Reserves in to service for the Korean War for 15 months in 1950. He continued working for NYTEL until his retirement in 1984. Following retirement, he worked part time for Northway Auto Exchange in Clifton Park. Raymond was an avid fisherman and had many friends related to that hobby. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Adrienne V. Karis; his two sons, Thomas E. Karis of Aromas, CA, and Kevin E. Karis of Denver, CO, and three grandchildren. Raymond has bequeathed his body to the Anatomical Gift Program.
