Richard LaPierre Obituary

Richard "Rick" LaPierre, 71, passed away peacefully Sunday September 13, 2020 at his home on Ballston Lake. Richard was born and educated in Delmar, NY. He attended Florida Institute of Technology before proudly serving in the US Air Force from 1968 to 1972. After serving, he settled in Florida for a few years and then moved back to the Capital District and has called Ballston Lake his home for the last 35 years. Rick spent his professional career servicing medical imaging equipment, most recently with Sofie Bio Sciences. He enjoyed playing the guitar and was passionate about motorcycle and car racing, even operating a racecar business while racing professionally himself in the SCCA for several years. He was equally passionate about cooking and developed many of his own recipes, most famously his margaritas and chicken wings. Rick's greatest joys in life included driving his motorboat while his daughter Kari water skied behind and going on rides to Stewart's with his best buddy Cooper to share a buttered hard roll. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Robin (Brizee) LaPierre, children: Christopher (Allyson) LaPierre, Michelle LaPierre, Monique (Patrick) LaPierre-Storz and Kari Richard LaPierre, grandson Andrew LaPierre, siblings: Bruce (Deborah) LaPierre, Mark (Debra) LaPierre and Barbara (Robert) Glynn, several nieces and nephews and his canine buddy Cooper. Calling hours will be Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rick's name to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave. Glenville, NY https://www.animalprotective.org/dev/ To leave a special message for the family online, visit www.DalyFuneralHome.com.

It is difficult to share good memories of such a well respected class mate as Rick. It is even harder to realize 3 years have passed since his passing. Our memories of Rick will survive time and he will always be with his family in thoughts and remembrances.
