ROBERT GINIECKI

Robert R. Giniecki Niskayuna - Robert R. Giniecki, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Vincent and Angela (Prostack) Giniecki. Bob is survived by his brother; William Giniecki (Lois), niece, Kathleen Young (Randy), three grandnieces; Natalie, Marlena and Lauren Young and many cousins.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy, Albany Business College and received a bachelor's degree at Ithaca College.
After college he was employed by Montgomery Ward as one of their youngest general managers and ultimately became CEO of H. S. Barney's, the largest independent department store in the Albany area.
As a young boy, Bob was stricken with polio, leaving him with severely damaged legs and feet. This handicap did not stop him. He skied, fished, hunted and played tennis. Also, this problem did not stop his business accomplishments.
Before and during his real estate career, he pursued other business ventures in Asia and Europe.
He started his real estate career with Blake Realty (1970 -1976). Bob established Foresite Realty and Advisors, Inc., as a certified instructor in commercial real estate. Bob taught throughout the country. Bob was recognized as "Instructor of the Year" by the NYS Association of Realtors. Additionally, he was chosen SEC "Counselor of the Year" and NYS Commercial Association of Realtors' "Realtor of the Year".
Bob served as president of the NYS CCIM Chapter, NYS Commercial Association, Capital Chapter of NYSCAR and Commercial-Industrial Real Estate Brokers of Greater Albany.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 9 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, 1241 State Street, Schenectady. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. In Bob's memory, memorial contributions "For Eliminating Polio World Wide" may be made to the Schenectady East Rotary, 435 Bolt Road, Scotia, NY, 12302.
