SALVATORE DIMANNO Obituary

Mr. Salvatore C. DiManno, 86, of State Hwy 30S, Amsterdam, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Schenectady, NY on September 29, 1925, a son of the late Luigi and Concetta Abato DiManno. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Mr. DiManno was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving from 1943 to 1946. Salvatore began his career for the former Eckbloom Chevrolet in Amsterdam as assistant parts manager. He then went to work for the former Glove City Chevrolet as parts manager until 1972. He along with his son, Louis M. DiManno, went into business and began Florida Auto Parts in Amsterdam where he continued working up until a few weeks ago. Salvatore was of the Roman Catholic faith. Mr. DiManno married Ruth DeRose on September 16, 1945. She passed away on April 25, 2007. Survivors include one son, Louis M. DiManno of Amsterdam; two sisters, Philomena (Francis) Palleschi and Frances Saburro of Schenectady, NY; two grandchildren, Louis P. DiManno (Crystal Thompson) of Amsterdam, and Allison DiManno (Brian Scheckton) of Amsterdam; four great-grandchildren, Louis and Nathan DiManno and Kiara and Hailee Alicea; caregivers, Angie Orengo, Stormy Carmona, Eric Fernandez, Sue Merritt, Melissa Krauss and Angela Pirfo and Patricia Payne; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Salvatore was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Nora Sue DiManno, on April 18, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY with Rev. John Medwid presiding. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday November 3, 2011 prior to the funeral service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
