STATIA REPKA Obituary

Statia Stempkowski Repka, 92, of Marion Ave., Schenectady, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2011, at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Aniela Stempkowski. Statia was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School in 1936; she had 32 years of service with the GE Company, 26 years of which she worked in the Induction Motor Engineering Dept. where she retired as a secretary to the manager of engineering. She resided at Ingersoll Place for the last two months where the staff and residents made her feel immediately comfortable. She felt her new home was like being on vacation. Statia was a communicant of the Church of St. Adalbert and the Altar Rosary Society. She worked on all parish functions especially the Harvest Festival, making pierogi and golumbki. She was a member of the former Annie Schaffer Citizens and Rotterdam Senior Centers where she was active in their programs, activities, and trips. She was an avid bridge player, golfer, enjoyed Polka dancing, and was known to dance as light as a feather. Statia was predeceased by her husband, Alfred N. Repka, and her sister, Gladys Nowak. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn and her husband, Ted Kozubal of Rotterdam; sisters, Helen Soris, Genia Orbacz, Anna Mae Lewinski, and Florence Madej; grandchildren, Carl (Trish) Barnowski of Florida and Cheryl (Rick) Pedone of Massachusetts; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle, and Will Barnowski, andAmelia and Hannah Pedone. Funeral services will be held Monday morning, March 21, 8:15 a.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home, 1346 Chrisler Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9 a.m. at the Church of St. Adalbert. Calling hours will be held Sunday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. Interment will be at St. Adalbert's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Statia in a special way, may make a contribution to the St. Adalbert Veterans Grotto Fund, 550 Lansing St., Schenectady, NY 12303 or Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308. The family would like to thank the ICU Dept. of Ellis Hospital for their care, especially Nancy, Elsie, Lisa, and Dr. Goykhman. The visits and prayers with all the Ellis Chaplins and Fr. Jerry were appreciated by the family at this trying time.

Carolyn and Ted,
We were so sorry to hear about Statia. It was always to nice to her at Mass and other fuctions at St. Adalbert. She will be missed by many.
