Susan Englehart Obituary

Susan M. Henningson ne Davolio Englehart SchenectadySusan M. Henningson ne Davolio Englehart, born in Schenectady July 26, 1944 to Madeline and Andrew Davolio, passed peacefully into the arms of a loving God on January 5, 2013 after a courageous 10 year battle with breast cancer. Susan graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and worked at several clerical jobs retiring from NYSDEC, where at the front desk she was the face of the Region 4 Office. Before her illness, Susan was active in sports from volleyball to cross country skiing. She was very talented with a shotgun. She became a skillful fly fisher. She loved to traveling to Vermont. Susan was a wise and multitalented person, a lover of animals, especially dogs, and a skilled trainer of retrievers. She was a resource for all things canine to all who knew her. She was generous, thoughtful, and a protector of those who could not speak for themselves. She was a resource for other cancer patients and a friend and mentor to those stricken with cancer. She often said the disease, however terrible, brought to make the most wonderful friends. She is survived by her husband, Arthur; her daughter, Alina (Bryan) Bobar of Bedford, NH; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Jacob who were her joy and treasure. She is also survived by her sister, Andrea (Robert) Rowley of Rotterdam; and a brother, Richard Kopper and Van Nuys, CA; and several nephews. There are no services planned at this time. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, technical, and administrative staff at St. Mary's Cancer Medicine Center and Ellis Radiation Oncology whose tender care made her journey longer and often pleasant. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 are solicited.

Sorry to hear of Susan's passing. She was a lively high school friend and as I read her obituary, see she continued to be a wonderful, caring person. Rest in peace, Susan..thoughts and prayers to your husband and family.

Susan and I were friends for over 50 years. We shared many good times and some bad ones. But one thing I know is God picked a beautiful flower and took her up to him. Thank you dear friend for your years of friendship and love. I will truly miss you. Arthur please know we are always here for you. Your friendship means a lot to us. Love, Barbara and Neil Cuomo
