Andrea was born in Grand Rapids MI and grew up in the town of Bear Lake MI. The family home was across the road from the lake, and in the summer, she lived in her bathing suit. In the winter she turned to snow and was an avid skier.
Andrea was an athlete in high school, participating in softball, basketball, and cheerleading. Her first experience as a cheerleader came when she was 6 years old and cheered alongside her older sister. She was the team's unofficial mascot.
After high school she continued her education at Michigan State University, receiving a Journalism degree in 1991. She was a devoted MSU fan, proud of her university ties.
After college she succumbed to the call of the mountains, moving to Breckridge CO. Her first job was with at the Sports Stalker, whose owners she knew from home. In Colorado, she skied in winter and hiked and biked during summer. She met her first husband Paul in 1993.
In 2004, they moved to the Elgin Il area, Paul's hometown. Relocation allowed her to be closer to her mom in MI. In Illinois Andrea did residential title work, a skill she picked up while in Colorado. Her last employer was Baird and Warner.
Andrea met Eric Gill in 2014. They quickly became inseparable. Enjoying 11 years together. In 2020 Andrea's mother came to live with them full time. During her final two years, she was able to leave her job and spend that time with her mother. It brought such great joy to the two of them. She was an avid gardener and turned her outdoor spaces into an oasis. She enjoyed the diverse wildlife that visited her pond. She regarded the Sandhill cranes that visited her "pets." Indoors it was all about the cats. She had many precious pets over the years. Hugo, Wylie, and Fancy will miss her. For fun, She and Eric loved going to see live music. Especially memorable were the trips to the Playa de Carmen area to see the Dead.
Andrea's spirit lives on in the laughter she shared, the gardens she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy is written in the hearts of those who knew her, and in the quiet beauty of the places she cherished. Though her passing was sudden, her presence remains--vivid, joyful, and unforgettable. Our love for Andrea will not fade away.
Services will be held at a later date.
