Arthur Nehring Obituary

Arthur A. Nehring died peacefully on July 12, 2014 in Tucson, Arizona. Art was born August 30, 1930 in Morenci, Arizona to Nancy and Kenneth Nehring. Survived by wife, Rose; brother, David (Marlene); nieces, Tina Nehring-Bishop, Jennifer Nehring-Citron and great-nieces, Katherine and Sarah Bishop. Art proudly participated as a young man in all school activities, especially football, at Tucson High School and the University of Arizona. Following graduation from U of A, he enlisted and served in the USAF from 1951-1953. 1953 - 1970 Art served as Vice-President of the Nehring Insurance Agency, founded by his father. He embraced and was committed to the objective of the Nehring Agency to provide courteous, honest, prompt and efficient service to each client. Nehring-Solot-Walker Insurance Agency was established and served the Tucson community from 1970 -1990. Throughout his career Art was actively involved with the Independent Insurance Agents of Arizona. He served as the President of the Tucson Association as well as the President of the State Association. He was appointed the Arizona State National Director to the National Board of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA), served as Chairman of the Association's Technical Affairs Committee and was active in establishing a collation of western states known as the Far West Conference to address the needs for new, updated and improved policy. Art received the Independent Insurance Agents of America Presidential Award for outstanding achievements in 1981 and he received the highest award possible from the Association when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991. Art served as Chair of the Tucson Central YMCA, a member of the Metropolitan YMCA Board of Directors, Chairman of the Insurance Advisory Committee of the Tucson Unified School District, and Chairman of the Tucson Chamber of Commerce Safety Program A Celebration of "Mr. Art's" life will be held at Old Pueblo Grille, 60 N. Alvernon Way, Friday August 8, 2014, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or the Junior Golf Association of Arizona for the LPGA Girls Golf of Tucson.
