BENJAMIN J. "JAY" CRIBB Jr.

LAKE VILLA - Benjamin J. "Jay" Cribb, Jr., 83 years old, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Village of Victory Lakes in Lake Villa, after a brief but trying battle with Parkinsonian Syndrome and Alzheimer's. Born May 13, 1939, in Waukegan, IL, to the late Benjamin Sr. and Beatrice (Olson) Cribb, the family resided in Lake Villa, where Jay attended school and graduated from Antioch Community High in 1957. He graduated from Lakeland College in 1962. Jay served in the US Army Reserves for 14 years where he enjoyed playing the trumpet. Jay and Roberta (Rice) Cribb were married in 1965 and resided in Waukegan, where they raised their children. Jay was employed over the years by Abbott Laboratories, G.D. Searle Labs, and retired from Kraft Foods where he worked in Research and Development until his retirement in 1996. Jay enjoyed the great outdoors, gardening, and most of all, fishing and spending time on the lake in northern Wisconsin. In 1999, Jay married Susan Prochnow. Survivors include, his wife of 23 years, Susan Cribb of Lake Villa, IL; former wife, Roberta Cribb of Waukegan, IL; children, Kevin Cribb of Gurnee, IL and Beth (John) Stramel of Ottawa, IL; sister, Nancy Cribb Tesch of Richmond, TX; stepdaughter, Amy (Heath) Whalen of Milwaukee, WI; great-granddaughter, Lucy Whalen of Milwaukee, WI; nieces, Kim Nessler and Valerie Mueller of Texas; great-nieces and nephews, Abby Mueller, Emma Mueller, Ben Mueller, Kai Nessler, and Meredith Nessler; and many additional family members and friends. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Sr. and Beatrice Cribb. Visitation will be held from 3:00PM until 7:00PM Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Route 83), Antioch, IL 60002. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the United Methodist Church of Lake Villa, 110 McKinley Ave., Lake Villa, IL 60046, with interment to immediately follow in Angola Cemetery.
