Carole Ann (Gschwind) Ealy, 82, of Effingham, formerly of Darien, Illinois, passed away in Willowbrook Memory Care in Effingham on June 19, 2021. Carole was born September 1, 1938 to John and Joan (Saragusa) Gschwind in Chicago Illinois she attended Schurz High School in Chicago and moved to Florida where she graduated from Miami Edison High School class of 1956. Carole married Charles Ealy on February 23, 1963 in Chicago and they were blessed with a son and a grandson. Carole loved her family and never missed an opportunity to attend her son or grandsons' sporting and school events. Carole was so proud of their accomplishments and she loved to share their stories with everyone and loved to celebrate and spend time with family and friends as well as tell about all of her travels to Italy, Alaska, Mexico, Florida, North Carolina and so many other places. Carole was a member of our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Darien Illinois and before retirement in 2008 she was an administrative assistant for Argonne National Laboratory in Darien Illinois. Carole was known by numerous titles; hon, mom, grandma, Mimi, and Aunt Carol, she was a devoted follower of Christ. Everyone who knew Carole also came to know of her generous heart and her giving spirit as she loved doing for others and had a special way of making any room she entered, warm and bright. Carole was preceded in death by her parents and one sister; Judy Wilson. Carole is already missed by her loving husband Charles, son Charleton (Chuckie) and Sheila, grandson Charles (Charlie), Charlies's mom, Penny, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, June 26 at our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Darien Illinois with internment following at Queen of Heaven Cemetery; visitation will be Friday, June 25 from 3 to 8 PM at Modell Funeral Home in Darien Illinois. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to; Willowbrook Memory Care, Effingham; Paws of Chicago, HSHS Hospice Effingham Illinois or to the Alzheimer's Association.
